Migrating Identities, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, a photo by @lakitalki on Flickr.
On one side of the hanging book sculpture you see the ends of books. Laying flat on their sides so you don’t have to tilt your head to read the titles, they are stacked on top of on another. On the other side, it looks like a carving of rock or the cutaway of mountains or boulders. This was just one piece of art in the Migrating Identities exhibit at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
YBCA was founded in 1993 “out of an expressed need for an accessible, high-profile San Francisco venue devoted to contemporary visual art, performance, and film/video representing diverse cultural and artistic perspectives.” The YBCA hosts a wide variety of art with special attention to diverse aesthetic voices.
They are also FREE the first Tuesday of each month.
